Copyright & Content Removal

1. Respect for Copyright

JustScrolls respects the intellectual property rights of others. All news content displayed on our service belongs to their respective publishers and copyright holders. JustScrolls is operated from India; removal requests are handled under the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and we also accept notices in US DMCA form.

2. How We Display Content

JustScrolls operates as a news aggregator. We only display:

• Article headlines/titles
• Brief excerpts or summaries (typically under 200 characters)
• Thumbnail images as provided in RSS feeds
• Source attribution with direct links to the original article

We do not host, store, or display full article content. Users are always directed to the original publisher's website to read the complete article. Our debate shows are AI-generated commentary that cites its news sources; a removal request may also concern a debate that references your work.

4. Formal Notice (India)

If you prefer a formal route, send a written complaint under the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 to the contact in Section 10, with the subject "Copyright Complaint". Your complaint should include:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work and proof of your ownership or authorization
2. The JustScrolls URL(s) where the allegedly infringing material appears
3. Your name, address, and contact details
4. A statement that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner and that the information in the complaint is accurate
5. Your physical or electronic signature

5. DMCA Notice (United States)

We also accept takedown notices in the form described by 17 U.S.C. §512 (DMCA). Send them to the contact in Section 10 with the subject "DMCA Takedown Notice", including:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail to locate it
4. Your contact information (address, telephone number, email)
5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized
6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

Note that knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing may make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).

6. Counter-Notice

If material you posted or own was removed following a complaint and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, email the contact in Section 10 with the subject "Counter-Notice", identifying the removed material, explaining why you believe it was removed in error, and including your contact details and signature. We will review it, may share it with the original complainant, and will restore the material if the complaint is not upheld or pursued further.

7. Response Times

JustScrolls is run by a small team, so we promise realistic timelines: we aim to acknowledge every removal request within 48 hours and to resolve it within 15 days, in line with the grievance timelines under India's IT Rules, 2021. Clear, complete requests from publishers are usually actioned much faster.

8. Blocking Your Site

Publishers can also prevent their content from appearing on JustScrolls by:

• Contacting us to blocklist your domain
• Adding appropriate robots.txt directives to your website

Once your domain is blocklisted, no future content from your site will appear on JustScrolls.

9. Good Faith

JustScrolls operates in good faith to promote quality journalism by driving traffic to original news sources. We believe our service benefits both readers and publishers by increasing visibility and readership. However, we fully respect publishers' rights to control how their content is distributed.
